NEW PLYMOUTH - WHANGANUI - 22/12/2016 DISTANCE - 159km ACCOMMODATION - TAMARA RIVERSIDE LODGE $31 EACH 4/5   The journey begins! Today, to avoid the Christmas chaos we left straight after work rather than braving the Friday before Christmas traffic. With a slow start, as Karine gains her confidence we had a bit of a rush to get to Whanganui before our accommodation closed. WHANGANUI TO WELLINGTON - 23/12/2016 DISTANCE - 194KM ACCOMMODATION - MINOLI AND GEANGE RESIDENCE FREE 5/5   BROtaki, a little town outside Wellington was our first stop of the day. A mate has opened a gallery studio - Hori, so we stopped to check it out. It was pretty awesome with some incredible artwork and clothes in store. After a wind proof cover went flying in the wind, we realised the importance of bungee cords. Tackling the wind and motorway was a bit hectic for Karine but she pushed through like a champ with some help through the walkie talkies....

WELLINGTON TO PICTON TO RUBY BAY - 24/12/2016 DISTANCE - 141km ACCOMMODATION - MCKEE MEMORIAL RECREATIONAL RESERVE $6 EACH 2/5   With a 3:30am ferry the sun rise from the ferry deck as we rode through the Marlborough sounds was epic. The Queen Charlotte ride was the first road to ride, there were beautiful views to see along the way and the windy roads provide a bit of fun. RUBY BAY TO REEFTON - 25/12/2016 DISTANCE - 233km ACCOMMODATION - SLAB HUTT CREEK $8 EACH 4/5   Christmas day was a long ass day. Hope Saddle Lookout is a sight to be seen on this ride. We met two young pommy tea drinkers (Alex and Dave) on bikes doing a similar trip to us.  The beautiful saddle and Buller gorge is just a taste of the views we have coming our way.
